Turkmen jewelry has its own distinct style that has been coveted throughout the centuries.  The intricate workmanship, exquisite designs and ornamental quality makes it the jewel of Central Asia.  The jewelry has protective and symbolic meaning which has been documented by historians such as Schletzer in his "Old Silver Jewellery of the Turkoman".

Carnelian and lapis lazuli are two favorite stones used in Turkmen jewelry.  Thin gold leafing contrasts with sterling silver, creating warm patterns that enclose the stones.

Turkmen jewelry serves different functions: prayer boxes, hair adornment, protection, dowry.  All are beautifully crafted with a gracefulness of design that pleases the eye.
