My life has been an interesting path that finally led me as a war refugee from Afghanistan to Pakistan to the United States.  I worked for John Hancock/Prudential Insurance for fifteen years as a financial planner.  During visits back to see my family in refugee camps in Peshawar I became increasingly interested in helping refugees and artisans find markets for their crafts.  I fell in love with the beauty of the region's traditional skills in weaving, carpet making, ceramics, metal smithing and all the other artistic expression that comes out of my people's history.

Afghan Tribal Arts has been in business since 1995 and continues to support poor artisans and traders, offering much needed employment as well as helping to preserve traditional skills.  Thank you for your support.
